Brandi Collins-Dexter

Brandi (she/her) is a writer, activist and researcher. She is currently a visiting fellow at Harvard Kennedy School’s Shorenstein Center on Media, Politics and Public Policy


Brandi is the author of Black Skinhead: Reflections on Blackness and Our Political Future which explores the fragile alliance between Black voters and the Democratic party through a series of essays that span Brandi’s experiences. The book is slated to publish in the Fall 2022 and is available to pre-order now


Brandi was named a 2017 “person to watch” by The Hill and one of the 100 most influential African Americans by The Root in 2019. Brandi comes from a long line of South Side Chicagoans and currently lives in Baltimore.

Steven Renderos

Steven (he/him) is an organizer, DJ and audio producer. Currently he’s the Executive Director of MediaJustice, a national racial justice organization that advances the media and technology rights of people of color.


In addition to Bring Receipts, he is also the executive producer for Revolutionary Spirits, a 4-part history podcast on the life and martyrdom of Mexican revolutionary leader Francisco Madero. Steven is also the co-founder of Radio Pocho, a radio program on KFAI in Minneapolis. 


Spanish was Steven’s first language so a lot of his earliest memories of pop culture involved telenovelas, Sabado Gigante, and any music played on KLOVE, his mom’s favorite radio station.
